Linux VPS hosting is a product offering of Cloud My Office. Customers can choose their Linux distribution from Ubuntu, Debian, cPanel, Centos and more. We then install the operating system, set up the IP addresses and send the root shell login information all in about 10 minutes.

Ubuntu is one of the most active distributions at this time. It's built on Debian and uses the same aptitude package management system. The user base is GREAT and REALLY responsive at answering questions. We highly recommend Ubuntu on our dedicated VPS's especially for those just getting started with Linux!

Debian is a great linux distribution for those getting started with VPS management. Their releases are extremely stable and the use community is very active and supportive. Software updates are performed through aptitude. More info about Debian and the Debian GNU/Linux project can be found here.

CentOS is short for 'Community Enterprise Operating System' and is designed to be used in enterprise environments. As of January 2011, CentOS commanded nearly 30% of the enterprise linux market share, especially for web servers and the like (Citation). CentOS also uses some of the same open source packages as a very large commercial Linux vendor in North America.
